Tammy McIvor was first introduced to the world of Pilates in 2002.  She has always been interested in health & fitness, having graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1994 with a degree in Human Ecology (major Foods & Nutrition).  Pilates was something very different from her days as an aerobics instructor and personal trainer.  A shoulder injury in 2004 encouraged a more serious dedication to it. 

By May 2008 Tammy had earned a full certification through Boditree Pilates & Healing and started teaching.  She also continued to attend Pilates workshops such as Pilates & Scoliosis (Michelle Larsson), From the Star Backwards (Rachel Taylor Segel) and The Physics of Pilates (Matilda Christenson).  The classical approach intrigued Tammy so much so, that in September 2009 she decided to audition for an intense 900+ hours teacher training program offered at “Pilates From The Center” in North Vancouver.  “The Pilates Center” teacher training program is the most respected, comprehensive and intensive program of its kind in the world.  Not only do students require endless hours of lectures, observation and practical experience, the program also requires that the teacher in training perform the full Level 5 repertoire in both mat and reformer in order to graduate from the program, which Tammy has successfully done in October 2010.

Tammy’s commitment and passion for Pilates is ever-growing and she loves having the opportunity to share this with her clients on a daily basis!   She specializes in helping people to stabilize and strengthen their core using the 6 valuable principles of Pilates: Centering, Concentration, Control, Precision, Breath & Flow.

Tammy is available in the studio for private pilates sessions Monday - Friday.
