We value all our Pemberton clients and strive to provide the best care in personal wellness. Below is a collection of patient information and frequently asked questions about health and wellness by clients at Connections Wellness Studio. COVID-19 Update / Return to Practice Plan

Clients are now not required to wear a face mask while entering the studio but it is recommended you wear a mask during treatment in the room with close contact Sanitizing hands upon entry is still required in the studio and wearing a mask in the treatment rooms is required due to to lack of spacing.

Due to Covid-19 we have allowed more time for cleaning and as Health Professionals we are all vaccinated and following health  guidelines. All clients must cancel your appointment if you are not well with as much notice as possible. 

  • You are  required to do the Covid-19 screening questionnaire and wash your hands or sanitize
  • It is recommended by the POD to bring a mask to wear in close contact during treatment  and if you forget to bring a mask we will supply one for you.
  • Waiting area you must social distance. 
  • One person appointment only, no children or guests waiting unattended.
  • There will be some changes to available appointment times
  • We have staggered appointments for social distancing purposes
  • Cleaning products are high grade disinfectant
  • Longer gaps between appointments to allow for cleaning time.

Rates, Payment & Policies

  • We accept cash, Debit, Visa, and Mastercard
  • 24 hour cancellation notice is required
  • Prices in effect January 1st, 2021
  • Rates do not include GST
  • Rates are subject to change
  • See prices for each therapist on our online booking site

Insurance & Direct Billing

Eligible Providers include Telus Health Extended medical plans:

  • Blue Cross
  • Sunlife
  • Manulife
  • Great West Life
  • Canada Life
  • Chamber Commerce (and more added to teleplan)

We are able to give medical receipts and we do direct billing to most extended medical plans.

Insurance & Direct Billing Exceptions:

  • The Osteopath, Naturopath and Certified Athletic Therapist are covered by most Extended Medical, but you must send your receipts in for direct billing.
  • Doctor referral may be required for some extended health benefits / reimbursement.  We encourage you to check before you come in.
  • Medical Service Plan for Premium Assistance pays $23 per massage visit for a maximum of 10 appointments per year we do not bill directly.

What should I expect at my appointment?
All appointment times include one-on-one consultation (initial appointment- review your medical history with you) to address your concerns. You will need to fill out an intake form for your first appointment.
What if I need to cancel?
24 hour cancellation notice is required or full treatment cost fee will be charged.
Can I rent your space for my workshop?
We are always looking to rent our front studio space to qualified experts or for rehabilitation or workshops in the field of health and wellness. Contact us for details if you would like to use our space.

What types of massage can I get?
We offer customized therapeutic massage such as Sports massage, Myofascial release, Cranial Sacral, Visceral, Prenatal massage, Heated Stone massage, and massage therapy treatment for kids 12 and under.
What is the difference between an Athletic Therapist and Physiotherapist?
Athletic Therapy: focuses on exercise physiology, has First responder certification, onsite injury assessment and management and supportive taping and bracing. Physiotherapy: Cardio respiratory rehabilitation, Community health initiatives, Neurological rehabilitation and Rehabilitation for strokes, burns and chronic diseases
What massage techniques are used with Athletes?

Athletes are always pushing themselves in training and respond well to Myofascial massage techniques. Pain and discomfort can be caused by many things, old injuries, degeneration and possible compensations from tight muscles and lack of range of motion. Deeper tissue myofascial release helps to repattern and realign your muscle fiber by unsticking the tissue and separating the groups of muscle from the joint and bone. This unique style of sports massage helps with chronic inflammatory tension in a muscle and detoxification of lactic acid. Athletes find this style of massage best improves range of motion and performance.

Do you recommend Aromatherapy with Massage?
Massage therapy with aromatherapy oils is a great way to stay balanced. Ask about our aromatherapy Saje blends to help.
Do you sell Yamuna® balls?

Yes, we have a selection of all sizes of Yamuna® balls to buy but we recommend taking a Yamuna® class or private to learn how to use the balls safely in practice. Please call Cheray in the Pemberton studio at (604) 894-1223 for prices.

BILLING FAQs
Do insurance plans cover massage therapy?
Yes. The majority of Canadian workers have partial or full coverage for Registered Massage Therapy services in their workplace health care plans. You will be provided with a receipt that you can submit to your extended health provider. BC Medical Services Plan covers a portion of the costs for a total of ten visits annually for patients on Premium Assistance for Massage Therapy. We always suggest you check your extended medical plan to see coverage specifications. We do direct billing for your convenience through Telus Health.
Do I need a Doctor’s referral for massage therapy?
Some insurance companies may require a note from a physician explaining why massage has been prescribed. It is recommended that patients check with their insurance provider for details of their coverage. We direct bill to most extended medical plans through Telus health and Blue Cross, Sunlife, Great West life, Manual life, Chamber of Commerce and some smaller insurance companies.
