What is Pilates? Pilates, is a series of non-impact exercises designed by Joseph Pilates to develop strength, flexibility, balance, and inner awareness, using the six principles of Pilates: Centering, Concentration, Control, Precision, Breath and Flow. Pilates works the whole body. Movements are not performed rapidly or repeated excessively. Instead, the focus is on quality not quantity. The focus on core stabilization makes one stronger from the inside out and is critical for the advancement of the client. 3. Is Pilates different from Yoga? Yes! There are similarities in the two practices, such as, helping to improve balance, strength, flexibility and inner awareness. The major difference is that the Pilates technique not only has a full complement of matwork, but it incorporates work on the Pilates machines (Tower/Reformer & Chair). The emphasis of the exercises is to strengthen the abdominals, improve posture, stabilize and lengthen the spine, improve balance and overall strength. Whereas the Yoga movements are performed, mostly, in a group setting on a special Yoga mat with an aid of a Yoga instructor. The body's own weight is used for resistance and a great deal of focus is on the flow from one posture into the other. The use of meditation is also incorporated. 4. What is Cold Laser Light Therapy? Cold Laser, also know as "Soft Laser" or "Bio-esthetic Laser" is used to stimulate a biological process in cell tissue. Just as plants exposed to normal sunlight synthesize carbohydrates in their chlorophyll-containing tissues (photosynthesis), laser light stimulates the formation and release of our body's own chemical compounds because it increases cellular energy. The laser light energy becomes absorbed by the tissues, hence stimulating their metabolic processes. Cold Laser Therapy has many benefits including: Increasing Collagen Production, Improving Tone and Elasticity, Dispersing Pigmentation and Age Spots, Clearing Acne, Relieving Dark Circles and Eye Puffiness and Restoring the Skin's Youthful Glow! 5.
